Geocache Description:

The purpose of this cache is get you out and exploring the glorious ancient land (and now nature reserve) on the doorstep of Redhill.

This multi- cache involves a cycle ride or walk of approx 1.5 miles (2.5km) to the cache and the same on the the way back. You will cross Nutfield Marshes - a land first mentioned in the Doomsday Book in 1086. In recent times this farmland was extensively quarried, as well as being used for landfill. The area is slowly returning to nature, driven by strong local partnerships between commercial land users and local nature groups.

For an average walking speed of 5km/hr that makes a round trip about an hour, half that by bike (depending how strong your legs are and if you have children with you). Lots of opportunities to go further, details below.

The path follows the National Cycle Route 21 in a north easterly direction, on the whole. You also might like to pick up a few other caches along the way. Take a look at GC5VCD2 Alphabet T is for... and Alphabet K is for...

Start at the listed coordinates. This is the Starting Stage.

You'll see a white sign with black letters and numbers.

Treat each multi-digit number on the sign as a single digit. i.e. if there was a number 43 on the sign, then treat the number as 4 and 3, not 43.

ADD up all numbers on the sign to give you a total=AB (checksum, total of A+B = 10).

Remember - treat all numbers as single digits.

Then, your next location is 14.(A+5)(B-2)(B-A-2) 09.(B/3)(3*A)(B-4)

The  location (Stage 1) is a short deviation from the National Cycle Route 21.

Stage 1 - have a read!

Number of hectares of the site = CD Number of different types of dragonflies = E

Stage 2 is at 14.(C+D+E+2)(D)(C+D+E) 08. (C*3)(C+D)(E*4)

Away you go!

Stage 2 - Look for two signs

Number of letters in first word on green sign = F

Number of letters on second word on green sign = G

Yellow numbers =HJ over K

14.(F+1)(H+1)(G-4) 08. (J-4)(K-3)(H-1)

To the final location and the cache!

Final location and Cache

The cache is tucked away - please be careful of nettles and barbed wire and replace as found.

The cache is a simple double pot as the real treasure here is the landscape and the route.

If you have time, I'd recommend continuing North East and exploring another nature reserve, Spynes Mere.

The adventurous can continue even further and head up onto the North Downs.

I hope you enjoyed the journey :)
